Forever with you
by Paul Milne, aged 13, (also played Big Tony in the film)
It is often said that Summer School, provided by AiR in the Commy, is one of the best ways for young people in Speke and Garston to express their talents, and this has been surely justified this summer.
Our project was to make a film, along with one of the countries best writers Jimmy McGovern helping us write it. Having done Starcrossed last year, and making it a budding success, it seemed like a walk in the park. But it hasn't been easy! The film is about a young girl whose mother has died and has to put up with her psycho brother, and to top it all she's not a very good actress. The filming has been a total success and once again the youngsters have shined.
Other than the filming itself, we have been working hard on creating posters and logos for promoting the film. Singing has also been a large part of the project, with young girls singing their hearts out to the camera. We have all been impressed by how well we have worked together and how much effort has gone into it by all involved. The artistic lockets made by us will be on display at the film's premiere in September, at Parklands CLC theatre. We have all thought it has been an excellent and enjoyable experience, and would welcome anyone to get involved next year.
Here is what some of us have said about the project:
"Very funny and guttted that it has finished"
"Absolutely fantastic and boss"
"It's been a brilliant experience and a honour to be here"
"Couldn't imagine a summer without it"
So there you have it, proof indeed that summer school holds a special place in the hearts of many youngsters of Speke and Garston.
