Biennial

AiR has collaborated with Liverpool Biennial in 2002 and 2004. We worked with a group of non-attenders/alternative curriculum students from Speke Community Comprehensive (now Parklands High).

Exploring documentary photography and documentary writing we produced a set of self portraits (with creative text), a landscape panorama and a video.
The portraits and panorama were exhibited in Toxteth Library and the Liverpool Community College as part of the Liverpool Biennial 2002 and the students were given a tour of the other Biennial work as apart of the project, declaring "Ours is the best".

Example of the work produced | Look at the Biennial's perspective on the project

Following on from the successful work produced for the Biennial 2002, we have been working with 'A' level art students from St John Almond Catholic High School in Garston.
Exploring the work of one of the Biennial international artists, Yeondu Jung, we produced a set of 'Future/Dreams' portraits. The work will be further developed into a double triptych (3' x 7'), to be displayed in The Door café exhibition space as part of the Biennial 2004 and later placed on permanent display in St John Almond School.

"The [Biennial 2004] project injected a high level of creativity into the curriculum - grades all rose at 'A' level. We are seeking funding from Creative Partnerships for follow on project."
Andrea St John, Head of Art, St John Almond.
